La Muette – espaces littéraires presents the off-site exhibition: Ramuz x Plonk & Replonk Zbigl!
“Austere and down-to-earth, Ramuz is the definitive Swiss writer An institution. Serious business—granite set in reinforced concrete. His name frightens and intimidates, like the statue of the Commendatore casting its long shadow over the Alpine massif and the Vaud countryside, Lake Geneva and French-Swiss literature. At first glance, here is an author whose life was free of excess. His work features neither exoticism nor eroticism, but rather down-to-earth characters with deep roots beneath their clogs. Not a single alien in the chalet, very little high drama, but a suspense that is surprisingly good.
So, in all seriousness, can we laugh at the man and his work? Do we dare? It is a perilous exercise we have embarked upon. An act by one-armed trapeze artists. By hammering away like mad at the monolithic block of received wisdom, we discovered a strange, parallel life. By searching for the quiet, subtle irony hidden within his texts, and unraveling the mythical tapestry, we might just, who knows, discover something else entirely.” Plonk & Replonk Zbigl!

Led by Jacques Froidevaux, Miguel-Angel Morales, and other artists, the Plonk & Replonk Zbigl! collective dives with whimsical joy into the world of absurd humor. Their famous retro-inspired photomontages have spread across a wide variety of mediums: books, posters, postcards, stickers, gallery walls, animations, theater, and more. Among their influences are Erik Satie, Alphonse Allais, Glen Baxter, Gary Larson, and Pierre Dac.
